1. Before third grade began, our mothers bought my best friend Laurel and I matching outfits. Hers was pink, my was the lime green of the late 80s, early 90s. Every time I wore it, I felt cool.
2. In 6th grade, it was cool to wear jeans with a solid color, button-down shirt tucked into them, but unbuttoned, and a turtleneck underneath it.
3. In 7th grade, I mostly wore t-shirts and jeans, but once a week I would wear a skirt with mary janes and knee socks. Kelly often wore something similar.
4. In 8th grade, I wore black.
5. In 9th and 10th grades, still wore a lot of black, but more than that, what I wore was baggy clothes, most of which were men's and many of which I had purchased at Salvation Army. Never anything short. Never anything tight.
6. I had these elastic waist pants that were wide-legged and had tiny vertical pleats. Wyatt called them the lampshade pants.
7. I spent most of college in black velvet elastic waist pants, or in the winter, the fleece-lined cargo khakis Mike bought me to keep me warm.
8. T-shirts and jeans have generally been my style, but most of what I wore after college was clothes that were nice enough for my office job. Still baggy though.
9. I wore a dress almost every day from last April until late October. Dresses and cardigans. On the weekends, vintage dresses. I've never been happier with the clothes I wear. It is winter now, though, so I'm mostly in boring stuff that keeps me warm.
